Stop Praying for a Breakthrough…

...if fear rules your life!

How many times have you heard a preacher, or someone say keep praying, a breakthrough is coming? Don’t give up, keep praying!

I believe we should keep praying. We should never stop praying to God for the things of God, but here’s a question to ponder…

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe a breakthrough did come, and you missed it?

Do you know how often we walk away from God’s answer to prayer in our lives over fear? Think about it. When you’re afraid of something or afraid to try something new, or go someplace you’re unfamiliar with do you go even though you’re afraid? Or do you talk yourself out of it because of fear?

Do not fear

God’s Word tells us over 300 times do not fear, YET fear rules our lives. The Bible tells us not to fear so many times. Could that be exactly why Satan fights so hard to keep us afraid? Maybe that’s why God allows so many situations to come into our lives that cause fear so we can draw closer to Him to defeat Satan!

Oh but no, we don’t get it. We will keep praying for that breakthrough until it happens our way under our terms. But friend, God is not obligated to answer our prayers for a breakthrough in our comfort. He would not be God if He did everything our way.

How many things have you ignored or talked yourself out of this week alone because deep down you were afraid? And how many times have you begged God for a breakthrough this past week?

Do you get the connection?

God does not have to open those doors again if He doesn’t want to. He could. But He doesn’t have to open those same doors. God does not want us to live in fear. He wants us to draw close to Him to overcome our fears. It’s okay to be afraid. Tell God you’re afraid but allow Him to work through your fear for a great purpose for His Kingdom.

What do I do?

This is one of my favorite verses to use when I am about to embark on something I am afraid of:

Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Last Christmas I was in my church’s Christmas production. I was asked to play the part of the “sick woman” from Luke 8. I had one line, in one scene but the part called for a lot of emotion. I had to perform this same part live, 6 times, (6 different performances) in front of 18,000 people, with the exact same emotion each time. I was afraid, very afraid I would not be able to pull it off night after night. I kept this verse, Isaiah 41:10 in my pocket under my costume and I prayed it before going on stage each night. And each night God did it! The part was so moving. One person even told me he filmed it and sent it to his mother to give her hope for healing for his father who was battling Covid-19. (And his dad got better)

That’s God when we allow Him to work through our fears.

Yes, I was afraid, and quite frankly I would have talked myself out of doing that part if I didn’t know any better. God gets the victory when we give Him our fears and then we see a breakthrough!

What are you praying for today friend?

Don’t let fear take over. You could be letting your breakthrough slip through your hands if you allow fear to rule your life.

Search your Bible for Scriptures on fears and BE the breakthrough today that you’ve been waiting for.

2 Timothy 1:7 “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”
