Together we stand…And…together…
Author: Saleama A. Ruvalcaba
Isn’t it amazing that we understand team and teamwork when it’s for a great purpose. We are willing to accept blame as a team if something goes wrong. We’re willing to work together and push toward the goal.
But isn’t it also amazing that most of us never consider our sins and the major impact it has on everything and everyone around us – the team?
Have you ever considered that your hidden sins have a damaging impact on your family, your coworkers, or the church you attend?
Me? Sin?
Yes, your little white lies; those terrible thoughts about someone else, the envy toward…well… (you know who).
Read this verse with me; Joshua 7:10-11 “But the Lord said to Joshua, Get up! Why are you lying on your face like this? Israel has sinned and broken my covenant!“
To help you better understand this verse, Achan, one man, sinned if you read Joshua 7 from the beginning, but the LORD said, Israel has sinned – NOT Achan has sinned – thus the LORD was angry with Israel and would no longer protect Israel against their enemies. And keep in mind this was right after the LORD helped the Israelites defeat Jericho. (Joshua 6) But one man’s sin caused the LORD to remove his supernatural protection.
Do you ever wonder why your life is hard, or it feels like you can’t get a break or do you ever wonder why your work environment isn’t thriving or your church seems lifeless? (Now granted sometimes these things happen through no fault of our own – rather spiritual warfare)
But sometimes these things happen – because of our sins.
Has God removed His covering from the “team” because of unrepentant sin in your life?
Be encouraged…
If you keep reading Joshua 7 the LORD commands Joshua to tell the Israelites to purify themselves; Joshua 7:13 “Get up! Command the people to purify themselves in preparation for tomorrow. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Hidden among you, O Israel, are things set apart for the Lord. You will never defeat your enemies until you remove these things from among you.
Purify yourself sister. You are one – a team – in every setting God has placed you in. Don’t allow hidden sins in your life keep God’s favor away from your team!
