When You’re The First Face…
Author: Saleama A. Ruvalcaba, MATS
One of my most favorite things to do each week at work is film the introduction to our weekly Sunday T.V. broadcast for our church, Bellevue Baptist Church, in Memphis, TN.
Don’t get me wrong; yes I love to film our introduction each week, but I hardly make it about myself.
You see, I am the very first face people will see when they tune in to our broadcast. If I made filming the introduction all about me; I’m pretty certain God would close the door on my superficial reasoning very quickly! However, every time I film the introduction I pray and ask God to help me speak clearly. I ask Him to help me to be welcoming. I ask Him to help me speak with conviction. I ask Him to allow the introduction to cause people to watch the entire message – and be saved!
We often forget God will use us more when we understand everything He’s entrusted us to do has very little to do with us – but has everything to do with Him! As many times as I have filmed our 30 second introduction I never take it for granted. I never assume I can do it. I never allow my flesh to win.
It’s not about me!
Each program has different viewers and each viewer is important to God!
Are you making your journey with God more about you or Him?

Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, through prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made to God.”
